Icon Design • Poster Design

I designed a series of representations of a shoe. I initially sketched variations in marker and pen, focusing on line and shape respectively, and refined these into vectors.

I then created a series of posters using a variety of approaches including rotation/repetition, scanning, and the golden ratio.

Shoe 1 – plain silhouette.
Shoe 2 – blocky, retro line drawing.
Shoe 3 – contour drawing.
Shoe 4 – blocky shape silhouette.
Shoe 5 – curvy, thick line drawing.
Shoe 6 – abstract shoelace line drawing.
Shoe 7 – blocky line drawing.
Shoe 8 – mix of blocky shapes and thinner line drawing.
Textured drawing of shoes using ink and dry branch-like material found outside.
Abstract poster made from scanning textured drawings.
A variation of a similarly scanned poster.

I took the textured sketches and scanned them, moving them during the process to create patterns and textures.

Black and white poster featuring the inverted texture drawing.
An inverted version of the poster with a more representational shoe.
Framed version of the second poster.
Original second textured drawing with no touch-ups.
